Closing One Chapter and Opening Another

From Fashion to Fur

Making the decision to close a business I poured my heart into was incredibly difficult, but the industry and the economic environment has changed. The margins became tighter, the pressure started to feel relentless. Closing 69b felt like saying goodbye to a version of myself. But it’s time to reopen the doors with a new purpose - a luxury pet store and grooming parlour.

While sustainable fashion retail has lost its spark, something else has filled the space - my love for animals and for caring for them. If you’re a pet owner you’ll get it - pets aren’t accessories or afterthoughts, they’re family. They have personalities, preferences, anxieties, and routines. And yet, so many pet retail experiences feel rushed, clinical, or purely transactional. I started imaging something different.

What if a pet store felt like a boutique?
What if grooming felt like a spa experience rather than a stressful chore?
What if luxury wasn’t about excess, but about care for your pet, care for the planet, time, and intention?

So what started as a number of indifferent or even poor experiences in local pet shops and grooming services has stopped being a daydream and become a plan.

69b Boutique will close its doors for the last time on 1st February, but we will reopen in a few weeks as a pet store and grooming parlour, 69b Pet Boutique. There’s something symbolic about transforming the same physical space rather than walking away from it. Where clothing once hung there will be carefully curated pet products, chosen with the same care for quality and for the planet.  You can visit the new website now at https://69bpetboutique.com and sign up to be notified when we are open. We look forward to welcoming you again, with your furry friends.
