Sea Shepherd engages in direct action campaigns to defend wildlife and conserve and protect the world’s oceans from illegal exploitation and environmental destruction.
Overfishing is one of the most urgent threats to marine life today. The growing global demand for fish has pushed fishing activities far beyond sustainable levels. Sea Shepherd’s most important mission is to help countries combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, a key driver of the overfishing crisis. They provide civilian offshore patrol vessels to help authorities to enforce fisheries and conservation laws within their sovereign waters, playing a critical role in reducing overfishing and preserving the ecological balance of our oceans.
